LightCater vs Tripleseat

A fair comparison,
not a teardown.

Tripleseat is a real tool with real strengths. So is LightCater. They're built for different sizes of operation, and we'd rather you find that out before you buy than after. Here's the honest read.

The 30-second version

Choose Tripleseat if you're a hotel or venue with 3+ dedicated sales staff, you bid on Cvent or HelmsBriscoe leads, you need PMS/POS integration, and your annual events revenue justifies $5,000–$15,000+/year in software.

Choose LightCater if your events team is 1–4 people, you don't bid on platform RFPs, you can live without PMS sync, and the difference between $39–$59/month and $250+/month matters to your bottom line.

Where Tripleseat wins

Genuine strengths we don't try to match.

  • RFP / Cvent integration. If you bid on Cvent leads or HelmsBriscoe RFPs, Tripleseat routes them straight into your pipeline. We don't.
  • PMS & POS integrations. Tripleseat connects to Opera, MEWS, Maestro and major POS systems for hotels. We don't.
  • Multi-property dashboards. Built for chains and groups with central sales reporting. We're built per-property.
  • Mature lead-distribution workflows. Round-robin assignment, lead scoring, sales-rep KPI tracking. We have a flat CRM, not a sales-ops platform.
  • Deeper customisation. Custom fields everywhere, granular permissions, white-label client portals. Power costs configuration time.
Where LightCater wins

What "lighter" actually means in practice.

  • Price. from $39/month for 2 users + $14 per extra. Tripleseat typically starts at $250+/month and scales per user from there. The difference funds two part-time staff.
  • Setup time. 14-day free trial, you're sending real proposals on day 1. Tripleseat is a sales-led purchase with weeks of implementation.
  • Lower learning curve. Built to be learned on the job by a small team. Tripleseat needs training and admin maintenance.
  • Built-in e-signature. No DocuSign add-on, no per-envelope fee.
  • 5 languages out of the box. EN / DE / FR / IT / ES — function sheets, proposals, contracts and client emails. Tripleseat is English-only on standard plans.
  • Optional AI Agent at $18/month flat for daily briefs, drafted emails, follow-up nudges. Not on Tripleseat's roadmap as a comparable feature at this time.

Pick the right tool

Two questions that decide it.

1. How many sales reps?

If you have 3+ dedicated event sales staff with their own pipelines, Tripleseat's lead routing and reporting earn back its cost. If your team is 1–2 people, those features are overhead — and Tripleseat will feel heavy.

2. Do you bid on Cvent / HelmsBriscoe?

If yes, you need Tripleseat or a competitor with RFP integration — there's no way around it. If you sell direct and through your own website, that integration is dead weight.

A reasonable take: Tripleseat is the right tool when you've grown into it. LightCater is the right tool until you're there — and we'd genuinely tell you to graduate when the day comes.
